So Will I (100 Billion X)

20th May 2018

Last year, after Hillsong conference, I started to listen to all the songs from the “Wonder” album. Love every song in the album because the lyrics are so meaningful. However, there is one song that grabbed my attention straight away because of the unique intro. I listened to the song carefully, trying to catch the lyrics without reading it. When the song ended, its last line which made me almost teared up.

You’re the One who never leaves the one behind

Suddenly, I just received comfort from this line and reminded myself how much God loves me. I searched up the title of the song: So Will I. To me, it was not a catchy song. None of the chorus are repeated and I can’t remember the lyrics, which is a bit hard for me to sing along. But this is the best part of it. Every time when this song comes up, I would just put aside what I was working on and focus on the lyrics.

I can see Your heart Eight billion different ways
Every precious one
A child You died to save
If You gave Your life to love them so will I
Like You would again a hundred billion times
But what measure could amount to Your desire
You’re the One who never leaves the one behind

This is my favourite part of the song. Nearly the end, it says about God’s salvation for us. We are His precious children and He is willing to gave his life to save us and to draw us closer to Him. No matter how many times I’ve turned my back on God, he is always there for me. This song not only praised God for His wonderful creation and love, but also present the heart of following God. The lyric “so will I” appeared a lot and every time when I sing it, I feel like I’m declaring that I would follow God’s path and be what he wants me to be like.

If the wind goes where you send them, so will I

“So Will I” is not just an ordinary song. To me, it is comforting because I know God is faithful and it reminds me to act like Jesus and love others just as Jesus does.
